this one).
All the cigars in my top five this year were all 9.5 out of 10 or higher. I have to say that besides my #1 cigar of the year, cigars two through four were very challenging to put in order and after much thought, I am happy to list my favorite cigars of 2016.
Number 5 – Corona Project Vol. 1 by Rodrigo Cigars This cigar taught me to not overlook the corona vitola. Lots of flavor in a smaller package.
Number 4 – Chateau Fuente Queen B by Arturo Fuente Cigars The Queen B came onto my radar courtesy of my friend Matt, who would not shut up about this cigar until I was able to find one to try. I now look for these every time I am in my favorite B&M.
Number 3 – Mi Querida by Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust It’s not often that a cigar is so good before the review that I have to go out and buy more to review, but it happens. Steve Saka does fantastic work in the cigar world and the Mi Querida will not disappoint you.
Number 2 – Oktoberfest 2016 by Quesada Cigars After smoking the box, I ended up buying more…and somehow they vanished very quickly from the humidor. Now that Christmas is over, there is going to be more of these visiting the humidor in short order.
And finally, the only cigar this year to get a Perfect 10 from me:
Number 1 – Opus X La Diosa by Arturo Fuente Cigars For me to even give out a Perfect 10, a cigar has to not only smoke perfectly but it has to have an incredible depth of flavor and what I would call a sublime smoking experience. The La Diosa gave me all of that and then some. It reigns as one of the best cigars I have smoked in my life, all thanks to my friend Matt getting lucky and picking one up for me from Casa Fuente.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my reviews. I wish everyone reading a safe and Happy New Year and look forward to sharing more reviews in 2017.
