The party ended at 3am, I went back to my hotel around 1:30. After sleeping in, then grabbing a late breakfast, I went back to Burns East one last time for a final cigar or two. It was strange and somewhat sad to walk up and see the parking lot almost empty, no one sitting out in front, no music bumping from the trailer, and nobody playing dominos. Inside the staff was blurry-eyed and weary, the store was quiet, a far cry from what it was just 24 hours earlier. Just a handful of us were hanging out including Matt Booth. He was right; the vibe at Burns the day after the Tweetup is much more mellow, something you should experience if you get the chance. While there, Jay from AKA Cigars handed me a Solace which I smoked. This cigar along with the Kings Baron are among the best Connecticut wrapper cigars out there today. It’s always cool to smoke a cigar in front of its maker.
After an hour or so I left Burns to grab something to eat, feeling kind of blue the Tweetup was over. However, I was able to “extend” my vacation with a visit to Atlanta. After a safe flight, I’m back in So Cal, and back to work, huh!
