Background
Continuing my pattern of no pattern with this year’s look at last year’s Saints & Sinners membership pack, I decided to go with Cigar #4 from the pack.
Not sure I have much to add from a background standpoint, except that this is probably the cigar I looked least forward to simply because of the vitola. If you haven’t read it here before, I’m just not a fan of torpedo-tipped cigars…too many tight draws. I make an exception for a couple brands, but usually those brands are going to be in the $15 and up range, which this one isn’t. Bottom line: if there’s a good draw I’ll be pleased.
Probably bears mentioning that you can’t get these cigars unless you are a member of the Tatuaje Saints & Sinners Club. Membership is open once a year and you have to be recommended by someone to join. It costs about $150. My invitation for 2020 has already been spoken for…and I have at least two backups if that first one falls through.
Notes
This one is a Belicoso with a medium-dark brown wrapper leaf. It had a fairly oily feel to it and a sweetly earthy aroma. The foot was lightly earthy with a cedar note to it. I did get a good draw when I first cut and it gave off a dry herbal and cedar flavor, with touches of earth and coffee bean.
Once fired up the SnS 2019 #4 had dry cedar flavor up front, with earth and medium-roast coffee just behind that, along with a mild pepper spice, maybe white pepper at most.
Overall, I found this one good enough that I forgot to take more notes on it. I guess you would expect a typical cigar reviewer to make something up at this point (“It reminded me of the snickerdoodle cookies my neighbor’s mom made when I was 12 years old.”), but that’s not me.
