Background

I covered a lot of background about this series of reviews in the first installment…if you haven’t read it, you should take the time…while you’re at it, take a look at the second installment

Back? Cool…

Now it’s time to get into SnS 2017 #3, which was described as another Habano wrapped cigar. The size could be a slightly long and slightly fat Robusto, or a shorter-than-normal Toro. I say “Short Toro.” As always, it’s safe to assume that the cigars use Nicaraguan filler and binder leaves and were made in the My Father factory.

Notes

SnS3_bandbackAppearance was very similar to the SnS #1, which is to be expected since they are both Habano wrappers. This stick may have been just a little lighter in color, but it was still quite oily to the touch and had a mostly earthy aroma, with just a touch of leather. The foot was a mix of earth and coffee notes.

This one lit up at purely a medium body. I got notes of cedar and earth, along with a touch of dried fruit sweetness. There was a muted white pepper note on the palate and the burn was only slightly more intense on the nose.

At a point about 5 minutes in, I just sat back and said, “That is really good.” This one made me stop and notice it…not something all that easy to do with as many cigars as I’ve tried through the years.

I didn’t pair this one with anything besides water. Just wasn’t feeling it today, I guess.

As I got into the second third, there was definitely a chocolate note that came through and an increase in pepper spice. Wood and earth notes continued to provide a solid base for everything.

I don’t know what the blend difference is, but I enjoyed this Habano-wrapped stick better than the SnS #1. To me, this one just had a better balance and complexity.
