Sometimes life happens and takes your general day off course. For me, that was yesterday. Between a full day at work, teaching private music lessons after work, a semi-busy musical schedule throughout the week and then coming home to find out you are without power (that stayed without power until 1AM), my plans for finishing this review on time didn’t exactly happen.

Nat Sherman is one of the several brands, unfortunately, that for me get lost in the mix. With so many great manufacturers in the industry today, it can be difficult for me to try everything out there. So when the Nat Sherman Timeless Collection came across my radar awhile back, the first question to myself was “Why haven’t I tried this yet?” I’m always on the lookout for fuller bodied cigars to smoke. Couple that with a stronger interest in Dominican cigars as my love for Nicaraguan tobacco has taken over my humidor the last couple years and this really becomes a no-brainer.

Nothing out of the ordinary when it came to the Nat Sherman Timeless Collection concerning construction. The pre-light aromas were a pleasant mix of cedar and dried fruit with the cold draw adding just a touch of pepper (subtle). After the cut and light, the draws were nicely balanced and gave me starting notes of leather, pepper and light wood for the flavor profile. This particular Nat Sherman is definitely full bodied but very smooth and not overpowering. The pepper lightened up on the palette after a few minutes and by the halfway point, sweeter notes introduced themselves coupled with stronger woody flavors. The cigar finished off with almost mocha-ish notes to wrap up the 1:21 smoking time.

One relight was made on the cigar after I put it down for a minute or two too long. Other than that, I encountered no problems with the Nat Sherman Timeless Collection and look forward to the next time I smoke one (tonight while watching the Blues/Blackhawks game most likely).

To recap the Nat Sherman Timeless Collection:

  • This is a wonderful example of a full bodied Dominican cigar. Smooth on the palette but strong.
  • I would probably steer newer smokers or those who prefer milder smokes away from this cigar for other choices.
  • At under $8 a stick, I find these to be a nice value.
  • Before I can get more of these, I would really like to try the Nicaraguan version to compare the two but I’ll definitely be considering more of these in the future.

Thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.

Seriously cannot go wrong with any of the Nat Sherman collection. My wife brought me back some when she went to New York to visit some friends. She said the place is absolutely amazing and the service was top notch. Nice write up Jon.
