My cigar was gifted to me by Michael Abdoulah of En Fuego Cigars and Lounge.

I wanted to do at least two reviews of the cigars that I got while at En Fuego Cigars and Lounge. The problem I had in actually doing this was that for some reason, they didn’t stay in my humidor. They just disappeared…and I have no recollection of how that band ended up in the ashtray…yeah… In all seriousness, I was able to hold onto the Corojo long enough to get my thoughts written down and like the Culebra, it did not disappoint.

No constructions issues were found with the Corojo. After a few minutes with the unlit cigar, the pre-light notes I came up were light wood and dirt/earth. My Corojo was punched at the shop and after my light and first even draws gave me notes of mild leather and wood and something akin to a citrous flavor to finish out the opening of the cigar. This cigar is straight up medium bodied and very smooth on the palette. I did notice at around the 20 minute mark an introduction of a white pepper note right on the tip of the tongue but only stuck around for 10-15 minutes. By that point, the citrous and earth notes vanished, leaving the leather and adding an a touch of spice into the back of the palette. That ending flavor profile, which increased in strength ever so slightly, finished out the cigar. Total smoking time was 1:15.

I encountered zero issues in the build and/or smoking of the Corojo. I basically lit it and set my burn to be as even as possible and that was it. No relights. No uneven burns. It was “set it and forget it”…at least until my fingertips were singed. The only thing I could want more from this cigar is a larger depth of flavor (medium to full bodied) at the end of the cigar.

By-The-Numbers
Prelight: 2/2
Construction: 2/2
Flavor: 4/5
Value: 1/1
Total: 9/10

To recap the Culebra:

  • This is another example of a great offering by En Fuego Cigars and Lounge that is a great example of a true medium bodied cigar.
  • The Corojo can be enjoyed by both new cigar smoker and seasoned veteran without issue.
  • At $7.25, this cigar to me is a nice value. There are many similar cigars in the same strength range that go for more.
  • With Christmas not too far away, I’ll be looking to pick up a few of these (and the Culebra) as gifts for cigar-smoking friends and for our own enjoyment.

As always, thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.

Love Michael’s cigars and as the B&M I most frequent, I get the chance to smoke them a lot!
