Background
This is another one of the new releases Curivari premiered at last year’s IPCPR. Like their other offerings this a Nicaraguan puro. They come in five sizes and range in price from $12-$17 and like their other offerings come in 10 count boxes. This was the first one of these cigars I smoked.
Prelight
The cigar has a medium brown wrapper with some light golden streaks to it. It also exhibited some oils and tooth to it. When I gave the cigar a squeeze there was a slight amount of give without any soft spots. Putting my nose to the wrapper I noted the aroma of leather with raisins and barnyard coming from the foot. After clipping and taking a cold draw I got a good draw with notes of wood.
Flavor
It started off with a sweetness and flavors of cinnamon, leather, cocoa and wood with a decent spice on the tongue and retohale. It starts off medium strength. As I moved into the second third the spice mellowed out a lot. The flavors were pretty similar to the first: that of wood, leather, and cocoa with a slight sweetness on the finish. The strength was still medium however. The final third saw more of the same in regards to the flavors as well as the strength.
Construction
I had no issues with the draw or burn throughout.
Value
When I smoked the cigar I didn’t know what the price was. When I found out that it costs $12 without CA tobacco tax I thought that it was a little high.
Conclusions
While this cigar didn’t change a whole lot I thought the flavors were very enjoyable. It wasn’t too strong but it had enough strength to keep it interesting. If you’d like to try this or any of the other Curivari cigars head on over to SmallBatchCigar.com.
