Good Morning!
Well, here we are, another year that I am in Knoxville, while all of my cigar friends are in Vegas. Oh well, that’s all the ranting I will be doing this year. Anyway, I’m going to enjoy a nice cigar in the place where it all started for me, Silo Cigars in Farragut, TN.
After walking around in circles in the humidor for about 15 minutes, weighing all my options, I settled on one I’ve not had yet. The L’atelier Maduro. I chose the 44 size. Here are some details on the cigar:
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Size: 4.5 x 44 (my favorite)
Let us smoke.
Pre Light
As with anything I’ve had from Pete Johnson, the construction on this is perfect. Great smooth wrapper, perfect cold draw, etc. It has a great aroma on the foot, a little sweet, a little spice. What one would expect from a cigar with these specs.
First Third
This one starts out great. Admittedly I was not a huge fan of the original L’atelier. It may have been that I had the bad ones out of the
bunch, but they
just didn’t really do much for me. This one, however,
starts out great. Lots of sweetness, and the perfect spice through the nose.
Second third
The complexity has picked up a little bit. It maintains the sweet and spicy notes, but picked up a lot of earthy/leathery character also. Really complex, but well balanced. The spice through the nose is a little more intense also.
Final Third / Conclusion
This is a good cigar. The flavors stayed consistent through the final third. Its an all around good cigar. I likely won’t be buying a box, however, I will smoke it again. Give it a shot!
Happy Smoking, all.
