As I stated in my last cigar review, my next cigar reviews were going to be of those that I wouldn’t normally reach for right away. I think most people aren’t going to automatically reach for an 8×80 cigar (although you should try it once) but this week’s cigar will appeal to many more. I don’t think I have to say anything at this point about the Nub brand. However, this particular version was one I was not aware of. My friend Matt in Las Vegas who guided me to the JFR Lunatic in my last review was the one to tell about the new series of flavors from Nub. Now like many of you, I don’t usually purchase flavored cigars. They usually venture temporarily into my humidor, in small numbers and about two or three times a year. But when he told me about the flavor profile of the Nub he had, I knew I had to get ahold of some to try.

No construction were found in the build of the cigar. Taking the Nub out of the plastic wrapper, I was met with milk chocolate and tootsie roll aromas, which were fantastic. After the punch and lighting, I found a balanced draw with immediate notes of cocoa and milk chocolate on my lips. Once you get past the wrapper flavors, the cigar flavors brought about hints of spice and a touch of wood. The spice only lasted a few minutes but the wood notes stayed throughout the rest of the cigar, gaining some strength in the last half inch of the cigar. Total smoking time is 40 minutes.

No problems were encountered with the Nub Cafe Macchiato.

To recap the Nub Cafe Macchiato:

  • If you are looking for a new flavored cigar to try, start right here. These smell amazing right out of the plastic, but be sure to keep them properly separated from other cigars in humidor.
  • New cigar smokers and those who rarely smoke cigars will love this Nub. Seasoned smokers like me and many of you in the readership will likely enjoy these once in a great while.
  • For the cost of a five pack, I think these are a great deal.
  • While I really enjoyed these, they aren’t going to be more than a couple time a year purchase.
  • As a final note, my wife’s first cigar this past weekend was this Nub and loved it. I’m sure some of that because this was her first cigar in ten and a half months but she was impressed with the smell and flavors.

As always, thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.

Spot on w/ my experience of this one. Milk chocolate for days. Literally. Everything that had touched it smelled like it for days- w/ the cello on. I enjoyed it though & would def have another.

I have seen these in the magazine and on social media. I enjoyed the few regular Nubs I have tried and every once in a while I enjoy a flavored cigar, I will definitely keep my eyes open for one of these. Nice review.
