I think at this point in time, I don’t need to explain to anyone in the readership who Tatuaje Cigars is. We’ve certainly reviewed a healthy number of their cigars over the years. A couple weeks ago, I was perusing Two Guys Smoke Shop and came upon the graphic for the Tatuaje Verocú release. I took one look at that cigar and knew it must be tried and ordered a few right then and there.
No construction issues were found on the cigar. Hints of straw and dried fruit were prevalent in the pre-light notes. I opted for a punch because of the ring gauge and after the lighting, found that the Verocú started at a medium body in strength. Smooth notes of leather, coffee and a hint of wood started on my palette. 12 minutes into the cigar, I noticed the addition of the dried fruit notes slipping into the overall flavor profile. The cigar stayed with these flavor points and strength until just after the halfway point, which thenafter began growing in strength. Stronger notes of coffee and now mocha began overtaking the cigar in the last third of the cigar and in the final inch, those notes became prominent in the flavor profile. By that point, the strength of the Verocú had moved all the way into full bodied territory. The full bodied strength coupled with the coffee and mocha flavors finished out the cigar. Total smoking time was 1:23.
I had zero issues with the cigar. The burn was even, the draw was balanced and the cigar never went out on me. Interestingly enough, the second Verocú was the same way. It was in my final one that the only issue I encountered was the burn got off just enough to need a correction. I only score on the first cigar but I wanted to forthright in everything I found in this cigar. Needless to say, the Tatuaje Verocú scored very well.
By-The-Numbers
Prelight: 2/2
Construction: 2/2
Flavor: 5/5
Value: 1/1
Total: 10/10
To recap the Tatuaje Verocú #1:
- To my knowledge, this is my first perfect 10 of the year and it is well deserved. This cigar really had everything I look for in a cigar: Complexity of flavors, depth of strength (medium all the way to full bodied) and zero issues.
- This cigar is worth every bit of $10 per stick. Buy with confidence.
- Those who smoke milder cigars may not appreciate this as much as those who enjoy full bodied cigars but I think this one can be enjoyed by all. My wife, when not pregnant, would enjoy this cigar I believe.
- When the funds allow, I will likely buy a box of these and enjoy these slowly.
Speaking of my wife, in case you haven’t heard, we are expecting our second child and having a Guess the Date contest. You still have time to pick a potential due date. I will be closing entries into the contest here within the next two weeks, so if you haven’t entered yet (it’s free), please do so.
As always, thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.
Wow, a 10/10. This is one Tat I have never seen.
I enjoy his cigars, and I’m sure this one also, have to smoke his cigars once in a while, out of my price range.
Just love Tatuaje and can’t wait to try this cigar!
Wow a 10/10… nice Tats are all solid sticks just normally a little higher then what I want to spend
I just picked up a 5 pack of the #3 (corona gorda) and I have to say these are aesthetically beautiful cigars, I haven’t smoked one yet..a buddy smoked one the other night and said they might need some humidor time, thought they tasted a bit young. Great review, now I’m excited to light one!
Sounds worthwhile!
sick stick!!!! luv it!!!!
Sounds well worth it. Nice review.
I was going to comment how rare a 10/10 should be, and then I realized it was the Verocu!
