The Tobacconist Association of America (TAA) was scheduled to have their annual meetup in March for retailers and manufacturers in the industry. Like everything else in the world by and large, their event was canceled due to the COVID outbreak. The organization later decided to have a virtual conference over the summer and Villiger was among those who presented a cigar for the convention. Like David, I received two samples from Villiger with this review cigar being the second of the two cigars. Thank you to Villiger Cigars for the opportunity to review this cigar.

No construction issues on the cigar. The pre-light aromas didn’t exactly give me much to go on other than hints of wood. The cold draw however brought me more with noticeable notes of pepper and spice. After a straight cut to change things up and a light, I found an open draw with a stronger than medium bodied start. I found the Villiger TAA Exclusive to have a complex collection of flavors to kick off the cigar: baking spices at the front of the palette, wood in the middle of the palette and pepper on the aftertaste in the back of the palette. The cigar held firm with the flavor profile while gradually increasing in strength for the next forty minutes. From there, it pushed into the medium-to-full range of strength. I also found heavier wood flavors while black coffee notes finished the aftertaste on the palette. The last 36 minutes on the cigar the strength held firm while the coffee notes were more prominent while the wood moved in the background. Total smoking time on the Villiger TAA Exclusive 2020 was 1:16.

No problems of any kind, minor or major, were encountered during the smoking of this cigar.

To recap the Villiger TAA Exclusive 2020:

  • I enjoyed the balance of strength and the complexity of the flavors with this cigar.
  • With that being said, I don’t think it get strong enough to scare most cigar smokers. My wife who prefers milder cigars enjoyed the sample of this cigar, albeit brief.
  • Under $10.00 is always welcome for my wallet.
  • I would definitely buy this cigar in my local shops or online if the opportunity presented itself.

Thank you once again to Villiger Cigars for the chance to smoke this cigar. And thank you so much for reading. I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.
