In the short life of this blog (2 weeks today! Everybody celebrate!!!) we’ve already had a little upheaval and made some continuing changes that were already planned. I thought it would be a good time to point out a couple things…
Menu Upgrade
When we started there was simply “Home”…but now that humble home menu has grown some sub-menus. This was planned as we brought more of the old blog’s material on-line here. I’ve added menu items to go directly to “Cigar Reviews” or see our “Cigar of the Year” pieces, or if you wanted to check out the interview videos I added.
I spent some time editing and reformatting the old blog posts with the interviews in them and found some of my favorite interview subjects…
- Clint Aaron, 262 Cigars
- Arielle Ditkowich, La Sirena
- Joe Ledbetter, Chattanooga Whiskey Company
- Litto Gomez, La Flor Dominicana
- Jonathan Drew, Drew Estate
Sadly, there is just too much going on right now, so I didn’t have time to pull everything over, but as they do get updated, you’ll now have an easier way to find them. I’m hoping to be able to add a few more to this collection over the next few months.
Pipe Writer Wanted
In the planning stages of this blog, we fully intended to include reviews of pipe tobacco..even pipes!…in the mix. It’s something not a lot of other cigar-oriented blogs pay attention to (are there pipe blogs? I’m sure there have to be…), even though most cigar smokers I know do use a pipe from time to time. Sean was set to write a couple articles a month for us, but…life intruded. He let me know that he bit off more than he can chew and had to bow out of this endeavor. I have made contact with another local pipe enthusiast, and he does plan on contributing at some point, but…he isn’t sure about his ability to be consistent.
So…I’m putting out an open call to our readers. If you love pipe smoking as much (more?) than cigar smoking, or know someone who does, AND you have the ability to write about your experiences and preferences with pipes and pipe tobacco, as well as take halfway decent pictures to go along with the experience, I would be interested in talking to you. We would like really like to have someone who can commit to a minimum of 2 posts per month, but a weekly post isn’t out of the question.
Guest Reviews Wanted
Finally, I’ve been asked a couple times about other people wanting to contribute to this blog. We are going to open up the opportunity for guest reviews on weekends. The biggest requirement is to write well…I’ll edit where and if I can, but it’s best to have something decent to edit in the first place. Also, a photo or two of the cigar (or pipe tobacco!) in question is necessary. Try to keep the review between 250 and 500 words…and just speak your mind. Avoid profanity (we’re not a “family” site, but we do try to be a classy, professional one).
For either the Pipe Writer issue or the Guest Reviews, you can use the Contact Form on the site, or email me at [email protected].
One other thing…Happy St. Patrick’s Day…go smoke a Candela!
