It’s been about three months since I’ve done a more freeform posting. Couple that with a busy week of music rehearsals (still going) and Halloween, I haven’t had as much time to write. So instead of a normal cigar review, I will put a few cigar-related thoughts down here to share.
What I have been smoking
The busy week prevented me with a formal review of this next one (coming next Friday), but expect to see a review of the Undercrown Sungrown (David’s review is linked). The short-short version is that it’s a great cigar, but with many of you likely familiar with the Undercrown brand, I doubt that will come as a surprise. I also picked up a sampler of the latest Quesada Oktoberfest from Rodrigo Cigars. And like the Undercrown, the Oktoberfest never disappoints. Finally, my friend Matt and his family came into town a few weeks back to visit family. He was kind enough to leave me with a treasure trove of various cigars. Expect to see a review or two from what he brought me.
What I have been drinking
Both my wife and I are still thoroughly enjoying the Jameson Caskmates. And according to many of our friends, we are not the only ones. In addition, about a year ago, I bought my wife a subscription to Winc Wine Club. While I am not a big wine drinker, a dry red wine more often than not pairs very well with a cigar (for me anyway). Should any wine drinkers in the viewer ship like a free bottle from Winc (I think you pay shipping), post a comment or drop me an email (jon at leafenthusiast dot com) and I’d be happy to share. I’ve already done so with a couple of musician friends.
Sports
The NFL Pick’em Contest is ongoing and proving to be a pretty tight contest. We’ll see what happens by the end of the regular season. Someone other than me is going to end up with some free cigars at the end of it. And congratulations to the Houston Astros for their World Series win.
Need something to watch or listen to while smoking?
Finally, I’m always interesting finding new things to occupy some time while I smoke (or just for general down time). For anyone looking for new music, check out SomaFM. It’s the only music service I give a few bucks to a month, and it never disappoints. There is enough channels on there to please everyone. My favorites include (Secret Agent, Groove Salad, DEF CON Radio, and SF 10-33). You can listen to them on their website, mobile device, desktop app, AppleTV/Roku, among other ways. As for something to watch, Bob Ross can be found on Netflix and Amazon Prime and always proves to be a zen-like experience. And for the foodies out there, check out Almazan Kitchen on Youtube. It’s the definition of food porn.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read what I write. I always look forward to the next time I am able to share my thoughts with all of you.
